Paging & Ringing Alerts

PAGING

Paging systems are utilized in two primary applications:

  1. Communications with personnel in locations without telephone sets. Such areas might include warehouses, common areas, outside lots, etc.
  2. Paging is useful for applications where it isn't appropriate to page through the telephone sets. An example would be a quiet office environment where users don't want paging through their phones but rather through hallways and common areas.

ALERTS

Alerting systems are used in several applications:

  1. After-hours, when the receptionist is gone for the day, an incoming activates a chime. This signals people still in the office to pick up the ringing line.
  2. In areas with high noise levels such as a manufacturing floor or warehouse, a loud bell might be necessary to hear the phone ring.
  3. Alerts can also be used to notify personnel of "call overflow" conditions. As an example, one person may be assigned to pick up calls of a certain type. If they don't answer the call in a specified number of rings, an audible or visual alert could be triggered, thus notifying other employees to pick up the phone.
